                                                                    View From the High Plains

Leith Howard DeWeese was born in Logan, Utah. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Art Education and went on to complete the graphic design program. She went to work as the staff designer at Pima Community College. While there she created all manner of printed publications, signage, and many award-winning catalog covers. She and her husband pursued silversmithing, faceting, channel work and lapidary. Their work was exhibited at the Tucson Gem Mineral Society. Years later her family ended up in Montana. Leith taught secondary art and mathematics. Over her 30+ year career, she enriched the curriculum by displaying student art, buildings play sets, and managing costume construction and desigining prom themes. She was a founding member of the Artspot Gallery, formerly in Glasgow, MT. Leith is currently working on a series called "Faded Dreams & Empty Chairs," commemorating the historical homesteads along the hi-line. She has exhibited at numerous venues.

Using watercolor, Leith has developed a unique touch. "Growing up in the west creates a sense of place in each of us. There are particular locations that we remember, sites with open vistas, clean air and a reverence for nature." ~ LD
